The 2011 Canadian Taiji Open Championships was held on Nov. 12 at the Chinese Cultural Center of the Greater Toronto Area.  At this competition, students from our school performed very well, receiving a total of 4 gold, 3 silver and I bronze medals for push hands; 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals for routine ( Taijiquan forms).  One of the officials from the referee gallery congratulated our push hands gold medalist Vincent Seah, commending him that he was able to fully apply the techniques of tai chi in controlling his opponents.

Sifu Bao Sen Liang was very pleased with the results.  The students put in excellent practice and preparation work before the competition, and it is pleasing to see the results of their hard work.  He also commented that in any competition, while results are good to achieve, the spirit of competition and friendship are even more important.  Some students like to take the challenge of competition, which helps to build up one’s level of confidence, while others prefer to achieve self improvement in a quiet way by practicing to improve.  As long as students strive to improve themselves, their perseverance should be commended.
